So I've been throwing ideas around all summer long. After an extensive brainstorm, I came up with two viable ideas.
The first is about a super hero with a big ego who is looking to help someone. He sees a girl being mugged and led into a group of delinquents who want to do questionable things to her. The hero shows up on the scene and gives a long-winded speech about saving those in need and punishing those who choose to harm others, etc. In fact, he takes so long that the girl gets annoyed and starts beating up the thugs herself. The hero is astonished but attempts to help her, only to receive a beating from her as well every time she tries to help out. She does not discriminate in who she's attacking in the group. After all is said and done, she eventually sees the superhero lying amongst the guys she beat up. She pulls him up, drags him to a bench, and dusting herself off, walks home without a word. In what we can assume is some time after that, the hero shows up at the girl's house with a broken arm an a bunch of flowers. He rings the doorbell, and she opens the door. End.
The second is a bit more complex. It centers around an author and his female editor. She is serious, sarcastic, and professional. He is a joker, playboy, but overall a rather nice guy. He likes the editor and has asked her out at the end of ever novel entry he has sent her, but knowing his background and his method of asking, she never has taken him seriously. She jokingly makes conditions and refuses each time, saying stuff like--"When you get your manuscript done on time" or "when you stop acting like a college party boy." But then they have to go to a formal function together to promote his new book. Between bowing and scarping he asks her again to go on a date with him, but in person this time. She brushes him off, and just as she's about to leave, he hands her the final pages for the book--miraculously on time for once. She thanks him and leaves. When she returns home, she reads through it and finds a dedication pinned to the back, admitting that she is his source of inspiration, and that he's deeply in love with her. Completely shocked, she reads it over and over before staring at her computer. She then picks up the phone and dials his number.
"Hey Mark, about dinner tomorrow night. Count me in." End.
